Greil Marcus, the guy who wrote the supercool Lipstick Traces back in the long ago, has produced this retrospective on Twin Peaks that any fan of the one-time Greatest Show Ever Made should immediately consume.

The new Google Reader interface is outstanding! Now I have to decide whether and how to ditch Liferea and go back. It's like RSS reader volleyball here.
(Fri, Sep 29, 2006)
That took like 30 seconds: export to opml from Liferea, import into Google Reader. Duplicates? removed! Folders? maintained!

Just because you have a right to "free speech" doesn't mean I don't have a right to tell you to shut the hell up. It also doesn't mean I can't actively work toward persuading you to shut the hell up.
It is therefore that groups like the Wacky Christians orgs or the Family Before Fairness groups -- while extremely annoying to those of us who prefer adulthood to their protective brand of banishment -- have the right to organize boycotts or protests or letter-writing campaigns or whatever it is they do down there in the church basement when the choir isn't singing. They have the right, and I have the right to protest them etc too. It's only the Government who has no right to prevent any of this. That's all that "free speech" means. So shut the hell up.

This couldn't possibly be all of them, but it sure is a lot. I have endeavored to exclude pre- or potential- apocalypse novels (like Burdick's Fail-Safe), as well as far-future and time-travel novels that show some vision of a post-apocalypse (Vance, Wolf, Wells), the plethora of Dark Scary Future novels, and any localized disaster novels. I have not read all of these but I might try.
